マイナスイオンを出す石として近代より注目されています。
熱放射率も良く、熱を与えることで遠赤外線を放出します。
水分を良く吸い、その水分の含み方で色味も変化します。
柔らかく、加工がしやすいわりに丈夫です。
秋田県には、マタギ(猟師)だった八郎太郎が、龍になって十和田湖に住んだという伝説があります。
その他、神々の化身の白鼠の話など、今でも自然に育まれた十和田には、そういったミステリアスな伝説が多く残っており、それは神秘的なエネルギーがこの地にあるからだと思われます。

There is a mythology in Akita prefecture which said Taro Hachiro who was a Mataji (hunter), became a dragon and lived in Towada Lake.
Towada which is surrounded by abundant nature, has many other mythologies, like the story of a white rat which is reincarnation of a god. The reason of this happened maybe because there is mysterious energy in this area.
