山形めのう

山形では、古来から山岳信仰の出羽三山があり、山形の玉髄と瑪瑙は、月山をはじめとする出羽三山朝日山系の広いエリアで様々な景色を持った石が産出されます。
一般的には、透明なものをカルセドニー(玉髄)と呼び、縞模様があるものをアゲート(瑪瑙)と呼びますが、結晶構造や成分は変わりありません。
清流寒河江川が流れ、磐梯朝日国立公園のある大自然が雄大且つ優雅に包み込む地域です。
今でも産出された玉髄や瑪瑙で職人さんがアクセサリーを制作しています。
月山は山頂に天照大神や素戔嗚の兄弟である月読命(ツクヨミ)が祀られ、神仏習合以降は阿弥陀如来が住まわれているとされています。

Yamagata has the Dewa Three Mountains, which have been worshipped since ancient times, and Yamagata, Dewa Three Mountains, and Asahi Mountain cordillera produce a variety of stones with different appearances. Generally, transparent stones are called chalcedony and striped stones are called agate, but the crystal structure and composition are the same. The clear Sagae River flows through the area, and the Bandai Asahi National Park is an area of majestic and elegant nature. Even today, artisans make accessories from the chalcedony and agate produced here. At the peak of Mount Gassan, Amaterasu Omikami and Tsukuyomi, brother of Susanoo, are enshrined, and since the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism, it has been said that Amida Nyorai resides there.
