糸魚川翡翠

糸魚川翡翠は国内で唯一と言われている翡翠の産地で、現在は天然記念物となっているために採掘は出来ません。
2016年には翡翠が日本鉱物化学会によって「日本の石(国石)」に選ばれました。
日本では昔から皇室などの権力の象徴として勾玉などに加工され、各地の古墳などからも出土しています。
翡翠は、日本で使用されていたとされる記述が一番古いとされており、権力の象徴でもありました。
歴史を感じ、見る人を魅了して止まない美しさをもっています。
