伊豆で産出される多孔質の赤い火山岩です。
鉄分を多く含み、酸化することで赤い色を発色します。
その発色はマグマを思わせるような強い赤みを魅せてくれます。
多孔質なので、空気を清浄し水分を吸収し、空気が乾燥しているときは水分を放出する性質を持っています。
磁場を受け磁性を持ち、遠赤外線を放出する鉱物で身体に影響を返してくれる石といわれています。
海外では火の神のお守りとして使用されます。
