サファイア天山石
サファイア(コランダム)が含まれた花崗岩です。
石材を研磨する際に使われる「酸化セリウム」により表面がサファイアガラス化しています。
この酸化セリウムには石を強固にする作用があるとされるため、硬くて水を吸わず、変色に強い石になります。
このような風化に強い性質の花崗岩は珍しく、ガラス化した表面は鏡面のように光が反射します。
This is granite containing sapphire (corundum). The surface has been turned into sapphire glass by cerium oxide, which is used when polishing stone. This cerium oxide is said to have the effect of strengthening the stone, making it hard, water-resistant, and resistant to discoloration. Granite with such weather-resistant properties is rare, and the vitrified surface reflects light like a mirror.
