OITA YOSHINO Stone

大分吉野石

団子橋の碑や金橋がこの吉野石で作られたという逸話がある、歴史のある石です。
戦国時代に作られた団子橋は今ではなくなってしまい、記念碑だけが建っています。
吉野村中原に大友宗麟に仕えた原大隅守という力自慢の侍が住んでいて、大雨で流れた橋の代わりに裏山の重さ百貫もある大石を小脇に抱えてきて橋を作ったという伝説があります。
その石と同じものが吉野石です。

This is a historic stone, with an anecdote that the Dango Bridge monument and gold bridge were made from Yoshino stone. The Dango Bridge, built during the Sengoku period, no longer exists, and only the monument remains. There is a legend that a strong samurai named Hara Osumi no Kami, who served Otomo Sorin, lived in Nakahara, Yoshino village. After a bridge was washed away by heavy rain, he brought a huge stone weighing 100 kan from the mountain behind his house under his arm and built a bridge to replace it.
