三島古富士溶岩

霊峰富士山は約10万年前から噴火を繰り返して現在の姿となりました。
なかでも、約1万年前の噴火を、「三島溶岩」と呼び、およそ40kmも流れ、愛鷹山と箱根山の谷を埋め尽くしたといわれています。
なぜここまで広く流れたのかというと、噴火が激しいものではなく、溶岩が流れ、川のように噴火したからだといわれています。
通常の富士溶岩は宝永4年の噴火のもの(1707年)で、それから考えればとてつもなく古くに噴火した貴重な溶岩だといえます。

Mount Fuji has evolved into its current form through repeated eruptions since about 100,000 years ago. One particular eruption that occurred about 10,000 years ago is called the "Mishima Lava," The lava is said to have flowed for about 40km, filling the valleys of Mount Aitaka and Mount Hakone. The reason why the lava flowed so widely is not because the eruption was powerful but the lava flowed and erupted like a river. Normal Fuji lava is from the eruption in 1707. Therefore, this lava is a precious lava that erupted an incredibly long time ago.
