山形産玉髄

山形では、古来から山岳信仰の出羽三山があり、山形の玉髄と瑪瑙は、月山をはじめとする出羽三山朝日山系の広いエリアで様々な景色を持った石が産出されます。
一般的には、透明なものをカルセドニー(玉髄)と呼び、縞模様があるものをアゲート(瑪瑙)と呼びますが、結晶構造や成分は変わりありません。
清流寒河江川が流れ、磐梯朝日国立公園のある大自然が雄大且つ優雅に包み込む地域です。
今でも産出された玉髄や瑪瑙で職人さんがアクセサリーを制作しています。
月山は山頂に天照大神や素戔嗚の兄弟である月読命(ツクヨミ)が祀られ、神仏習合以降は阿弥陀如来が住まわれているとされています。

In Yamagata there are three sacred mountain of worship since ancient time, Yamagata‘s chalcedony and agate are produced with various stone in a wide area of Mt.Dewa and Asahi Mountains.
Generally the transparent one is called chalcedony and the striped one is called agate, but the crystal structure and composition remain unchanged.
The clear stream, the Sage River flows and the area with the Bandai Asahi National Park is a magnificent and elegant are. Craftsmen still now make accessories using the chalcedony and agate that have been mined there.
At the top of Mt. Gassan, Goddes Amateraru and Tsukuyomi, Susano`s sisters, are enshrined there, and it is said that Amitabha has been living since the Shinto practice.
