埼玉県秩父地方で産出するクロライトです。
1000キロにも及ぶ、三波川変成帯の石です。
光沢がなく柔らかい石賀です。
700年ほど前に作られた5.37mの野上下郷石塔婆(のがみしもごういしとうば)は日本一の高さです。
釈迦如来を意味する梵字が描かれています。
This is chlorite from the Chichibu region of Saitama Prefecture. This stone is from the Sambagawa metamorphic belt, which extends for 1,000 km. It has a soft texture with no luster. The 5.37m Nogamishimogo Stele which made around 700 years ago is the tallest stele in Japan. It is decorated with Sanskrit characters which means Sakyamuni Buddha.
