北海道では赤石が多くの地で産出される赤石の産地です。
赤石だけでなくオパールや日高翡翠と数多くの銘石が誕生する地で、これからも多くの発見が期待されている鉱物資源に恵まれた地域です。
赤石は碧玉の一種で、石に含まれた鉄分が長い時間を掛けて酸化し、赤に発色する酸化鉱物です。

Hokkaido is a place which produces a lot of red stones. Not only redstone but also opals, Hidaka Jade and many other types of stones are produced from Hokkaido.
It is a place which expect new minerals to be discovered one after another. Red stone is a type of jasper. The iron contained in the stone oxidizes and turns red over a long period of time.
