パープルハートは内装材、家具、化粧単板、彫刻などにその紫色の美しい色調を活かした所で使用されています。
辺材はほとんどが白から乳白色で、心材と切断時は明るい紫色ですが、時間の経過とともに暗紫褐色に変わっていきます。
名前の通り、独特の薄紫色の色調を持つ木材で、強度や耐久性が高く、菌や虫に対する耐性にも優れています。
