【パワーズウッド】黒檀 (Ebony)
インドやスリランカなどの南アジアからアフリカに広く分布している熱帯性常緑高木です。
紫檀、鉄刀木と共に唐木三大銘木といわれています。
材質は、漆黒の色合いで緻密かつ重厚で堅固であり、細工用の木材として古来より世界中で家具、仏壇、仏具、楽器などに使用されてきました。
黒いものほど良いとされています。

It is a tropical evergreen tree found widely distributed from South Asia, such as India and Sri Lanka, to Africa.
It is said to be one of the three great Karaki woods, along with rosewood and ironwood. The material is jet black in color, dense, heavy, and sturdy, and has been used since ancient times around the world for furniture, Buddhist altars, Buddhist implements, musical instruments, and other items required for fine craftsmanship. The darker it is, the better it is said to be.
