紫檀

紫檀とは、古来から銘木として利用されるローズウッドの仲間です。
黒檻、鉄刀木と共に唐木三大銘木といわれています。
赤みを帯びた木肌で、赤褐色から黒色の縞模様があり、色調はかなり変化に富んでいます。
童硬なため、乾燥・加工性にやや難がありますが美しい仕上がりが得られます。
虫や菌に侵されにくく、耐朽性は極めて優れており、材にかすかなバラの芳香がするものがあります。

Shidan Rosewood is a type of rosewood that has been used as a fine wood since ancient times.
It is said to be one of the three great Karaki woods, along with Ebony and Bombay Black Wood.
It has a reddish bark with reddish brown to black stripes, and the color tone is quite varied. Because it is heavy and hard, it is somewhat difficult to dry and process, but it produces a beautiful finish. It is resistant to insects and fungi, has excellent decay resistance, and some wood has a faint rose fragrance.
