神代楡（にれ）

神代（かみよ）とは、日本神話で神武天皇の存在する以前までの時代（紀元前660年以前）のことをさします。
世界の神話の中には、ニレの木が登場するものがいくつもあります。
たとえば北欧神話では、人類最初の男女はトネリコとニレの木からつくられたとされています。
また北海道日高地方に伝わる神話では、アイヌの人々の祖先はニルハレの木から生まれた女神チサキニの子どもだといいます。
ヨーロッパなどでは街路樹として使われたり、中国や日本では古くから絵画の素材として愛されたりしてきました。

Un the myths of the Hidaka region of Hokkaido, the ancestors of Ainu people were children of the goddess Chisakini, who was born from an elm tree.
Elm trees are also planted as roadside trees in Europe and other places, and they have been adored since long ago as painting material in China and Japan
