黒檀・紫檀と共に唐木三大銘木といわれています。
重厚感があり大変に硬い木で、「鉄の刀ようだ」と言われた事から「鉄刀木」という字が当てられています。
鉄刀木は耐久性、保存性に優れ、非常に腐りにくい強い木です。
削ると美しい光沢を持ち、表面は黒褐色の面と少し淡い金色を帯びて一つひとつ木目が違い、味わい深い木です。
It is said to be one of the three great Karaki woods, along with ebony and rosewood.
It is a heavy and very hard wood, and was given the name ”iron sword wood“ because it was said to be ”like an iron sword.“
Bombay Black Wood is durable, has excellent preservation properties, and is a strong wood that is very resistant to rotting.
When cut, it has a beautiful luster, and the surface has a dark brown surface and a slightly pale gold color, and each piece of wood has a different grain, making it a very tasteful wood.
