文殊樫（もんじゅかし）

生駒市の市木は樫の木で、昭和48年に市民からの希望で登録されました。
生駒山は古来より信仰の対象とされ「叶わない願いはない」といわれています。
この周辺には奈良時代の僧、行基によって建立された円福寺や往生院などの寺院が今も残され、中でも竹林寺には墓所があることから由縁の地として知られています。
また、行基は智慧の文殊善薩の化身とされ、多くの人々の救済に尽くしたほか、大仏建立にも寄与しています。
この生駒の文殊樫はそんな行基と縁を結ぶきっかけになるかもしれません。
樫はプナ科の常緑高木の総称で、日本では関東地方以南に育ちます。
木の年輪にあらわれる黄色と、甘い発酵した香りがするのが特徴です。

It may be an opportunity to connect with the Manjushri Gyoki of Ikoma City. Oak is a general term for the evergreen trees of the Fagaceae family, and grows in the south of Kanto region in Japan. It is characterized by the yellow color that appears on the annual rings and by the sweet, fermented aroma.
