Asuka Sakura Crystal (Nara Prefecture) [Famous Japanese Stone]

ASUKA SAKURA Quartz

Asuka Sakura Crystal

During the Asuka period (592 to 710 AD), the imperial capital was located here, and the area was gradually coming together as a unified nation under the coalition government of powerful clans.
This was a time of great change in Japan, when Prince Shotoku and the Soga clan, under the rule of Empress Suiko, established the Twelve Ranks and the Seventeen-Article Constitution.
Present-day Uda City is part of the ancient Asuka region, and has developed while incorporating the advanced technology and culture of the Sui and Tang dynasties of China.
Asuka Sakura Quartz is mined near a large weeping cherry tree that is 300 years old and still stands today, and in the past, hexagonal prisms were also mined.
Limonite quartz, which contains iron, is also produced here, but the cave near the cherry blossoms has now collapsed and it is no longer possible to obtain it.
