Toyouke no Okami, the deity of the Outer Shrine of Ise Jingu, was originally a goddess of grain who was enshrined in Tanba.
He moved to Ise Shrine as a god who served Amaterasu Omikami, who was lonely and alone.
According to the Kojiki, during the reign of Emperor Sujin, a local lord called Kugaminomikasa, a spider-like creature, wielded great power in Tanba Province, and there is a legend that he was defeated by Emperor Kaika's son, Hikoimasumiko.
Genuine Tanba stone is yellowish gray in color and is a high-quality stone that is rarely found in circulation.
This volcanic stone was formed by volcanic activity in the Late Cretaceous period when the Japanese archipelago was connected to the continent. It is collected from the Arima Formation and has plate-like texture like Suwa Teppei, and peels off in thin pieces.
In 2006, a new species of dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous period was discovered in Tamba, which caused quite a stir.
It is called the Tambasaurus, and its official name is "Tambatitanisamicitiae," which means that land on which dinosaurs roamed existed in Tamba since ancient times.
