Sugilite (Ehime Prefecture) [Famous Stones of Japan]

Sugilite

Sugilite

To be precise, it is edilite syenite, and the yellow-green part is sugilite.
Other new minerals discovered in this stone include Katayamaite, Murakamiite, and ferroferriformkistite.
Katayama stone is a mysterious stone, and there is still debate as to whether it is Baratoba stone, with no conclusion having been reached.
Katayama stone and Murakami stone are said to have fluorescent properties.
Sugilite, one of the world's three major healing stones, was discovered in 1942 by Dr. Kenichi Sugi on Iwaki Island in Ehime Prefecture, and is the first mineral to be named after a Japanese person.
When you think of Sugilite, you probably imagine it as purple, but the original sample discovered on Iwagi Island, the first in the world, was yellowish-brown.
It is also mined in South Africa, Italy, Australia, etc., but because it contains manganese, its properties are slightly different from the Sugilite found on Iwaki Island.
