Bloodwood is a type of hardwood commonly known as snowwood, blood rosewood, or African rosewood.
It is often confused with rosewood, but it is a different wood.
It is called "chidan" (blood sandalwood) because the cut surface is a deep red color like blood.
The core of the wood is blood red in color and gradually darkens over time.
The wood is dense and hard, resistant to humidity, does not warp easily, and is not easily affected by climate.
The best wood is one with uniform density and beautiful grain.
When fully grown, the tree only reaches a diameter of just 30cm.
It is a high-quality, precious wood and is used to make erhu instruments.
