Cherry trees have been loved by Japanese people since ancient times.
Throughout history, it has been said that the god of grain resides here, and it has been associated with rice-growing rituals and therefore treated with particular utmost care.
Its name is also mentioned in the famous collection of waka poetry, the Manyoshu, and according to the national culture of the Heian period, the flower referred to was "cherry blossom."
It is often cited as one of the national flowers, has a long history in Japan, and is considered a symbol of spring.
It has the connotation of "beauty of the spirit" and "graceful woman," and in recent years it has been said to have beauty and anti-aging effects, making it popular with many women.
The trees at Mount Koya, founded by Kobo Daishi, were cultivated by our ancestors, worshiped by many people, and cherished for many years.
