The Age of the Gods (Kamiyo) refers to the period before Emperor Jimmu existed in Japanese mythology (before 660 BC).
The Hidaka, Tokachi, and Kitami regions of Hokkaido are famous for being high-quality production areas for ash timber, but currently there is an increasing import of Chinese and Russian ash, which has the same quality as domestic timber.
Ash trees prefer to grow in wetlands, and so they came to be called "wetland ash."
The scientific name, Fraxinus sieboldiana, is said to have been given by the German physician and naturalist Philipp Franz von Siebold, who was also famous in Japan, and traces of his name can be seen in the "sieboldiana" part of the scientific name.
