Cherry trees have been loved by Japanese people since ancient times. Throughout history, it has been said that the god of grain resides here, and it has been associated with rice-growing rituals and therefore treated with particular utmost care. Its name is also mentioned in the famous collection of waka poetry, the Manyoshu, and according to the national culture of the Heian period, the flower referred to was "cherry blossom."
